BASIS San Antonio is located in a beautiful new facility at the heart of the growing Medical Technology Center. BASIS San Antonio opens for over 500 students, Grades 5-8, on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. For the most immediate updates and to learn more about the welcoming of our new BASIS students with enrichment programs being offered the week of August 26, please visit our Facebook page.
Adding a grade level each year to until Grade 12, BASIS San Antonio offers the same rigorous academic program as our sister schools, BASIS Scottsdale and BASIS Tucson, taking into account the previous educational background of all incoming students.
The lower school program focuses on building organizational and study skills and creating a deep knowledge base necessary for students to tackle the demanding AP-based upper school curriculum. Latin, general science and physical geography are introduced in Grade 5. Physics, chemistry and biology are in Grade 6. Seventh graders have the opportunity to study Mandarin, French or Spanish.
The BASIS upper school is consistently ranked as one of the top 10 high school programs in the country by U.S. News, Newsweek, and The Washington Post. Students take honors or AP courses. BASIS San Antonio Upper School students will begin taking Advanced Placement courses as early as the eighth grade and will take at least eight AP courses and six AP exams® by the end of their junior year. For more details, visit the curriculum tab.
MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL:
To introduce the first BASIS School in the State of Texas is an honor, and a thrilling one. San Antonio has welcomed us with Lone Star hospitality and interest: our introductory information sessions quickly became standing-room-only. As word spread that “BASIS is coming,” more and more parents came to the office spontaneously to ask about admitting their children.
One prospective family took it a step further by traveling to Arizona to our legacy schools. "It's academically rigorous and they raise the bar for all children,” the mom explained when interviewed by TV news here in San Antonio. “They give every child a chance to do what that child can do.”
She was precisely right: we know from experience that students can excel if willing to work hard and seek help from their teachers. The teachers we recruit have deep content knowledge, are passionate about what they teach, and are willing to do whatever it takes to make your child successful. We intend for BASIS San Antonio to be a beacon of achievement in American education.
It is delightful to know that BASIS has found such a warm, welcoming new home. Please contact us, to learn how your child can reach new levels of academic success at BASIS San Antonio.
